Article marketing is the practice of posting keyword-focused articles on article Directories that then syndicate your content. The reason this is an important website promotion technique is because some of these article directories sites have a significant readership following.

Most article directories sites allow you to post your content for free. Once published, your content becomes available for all to see - and potentially reuse.

When done properly, articles you post on article directories sites can then become "link bait" for other sites. For example, let's say you own a home business that sells “Special Tropical Fish”. If you or your web content writer write an article about “Discus” tropical fish, others who may want to post a blog entry about “Discus” may link to your article, getting increased exposure for your writing and your subject matter, especially if the article site gets a great deal more traffic than your own website, which is fairly likely.

It is well known that search engines place a lot of importance on back links but you'll also find that most websites with good page ranks are always looking for good fresh content, and this is not a coincidence. Search engines usually give more weight to sites that have high quality content in addition to back links.

Is Article Marketing Worth The Time?

Is it worth the time and energy to write and submit articles?

I say BIG yes and I'll tell you why. First, I would like to tell you about an article that I wrote that have allowed me to rank organically on the first page of Google for our keywords and even dominate the first page.

This articles was indexed four times on the first page for it's main keyword and for the second keyword it was indexed two times on the first page.

The first is an article I wrote that discussed the concept of  “Match Maker Service vs. Free Dating Websites” , the goal was to rank #1 for the keyword phrase "match maker service" in an effort to drive traffic to our client, Mms. Fay Goldman, a famous professional match maker from Manhattan, New York. The second keyword phrase was "free dating websites". The article was submitted to two articles directories and it took days for it to appears on Google first page.

One good benefit of article writing is that you can parse your fresh content and use it elsewhere… either somewhere on your site, or in an eProduct, or newsletter, or email. Leverage the fresh content you’ve spent time all that time to develop and you’ll reduce the amount of time you need somewhere else and that's exactely what i did with this article by using parts of it for ads, press releases and on the website fresh content page .

The best part of article writing though is the exposure you’re getting online. If you write consistently good stuff that gets picked up and distributed, you have the potential to gain the moniker of a “guru”. This step can lend powerful credibility to you online. Once you’ve achieved this status, you’ve entered the realm of a life-changing experience. You’ll be in demand!

Article marketing is a great tool for fueling affiliate sales when submitting articles you've written to a small number of quality article directories online. (links below), Yes , You can submit to hundreds of article directories but as for my experience it’s not as effective as to submit your articles to the main 6-25 article directories. you can read about in my previous post.
